Is the show "Teen Moms" really the reason behind teen pregnancy?

So I'm sure all of you know about the MTV hit show "Teen Mom". I have watched it more then once two summers ago when I was going through my MTV obsession, where everyday I was watching nothing but MTV, and Teen Mom was one of my favourite shows to watch. But now, I do not have such a huge obsession with MTV or Teen Mom, but I remember seeing an commerical for an interview that the teen do at the end of every season or so, where basically the interviewer, Dr. What's his face, was yelling at the teen mom's, telling them that the reason girls want to get pregnant was THEM.

Now, I didn't watch it, but it got me thinking.

Are all these TV shows the reason girl's think it's cool or OK to get pregnant?

Now here are all the reason's I think that it is the reason.

  • These shows don't show the real troubles these teens are going through, including how hard it really is to study for school, find a college that will accept if you have baby or are pregnant, blah blah blah.
Now, the reason I say this, is because YES, you do see the troubles they have studying for school and finding a college and all that jist, but what difference will it make to you if you only see a small clip? You don't see the, most likely, hours they spent studying with a screaming baby or toddler disrupting them, or how easy or hard it is looking online, in books, in pamphlets, etc,. looking for a school that offers a daycare or all that stuff while the mother, and if she's lucky, the dad is at school.
  • Because you don't see ALL the troubles the teens on these shows are going through, the teens that are trying to get pregnant think they will have an easy ride through life and people will show more then enough sympathy to get everything they want or need.
Because not everything going through the teens life are shown, you think that they have it easier then what really happens.
  • These teen mom wannabes see the TV shows, and see all the publicity they get and how they re parent's treat them, and see that they are getting a lot of attention, and they want that.
A lot of the time, a teenager will want to get pregnant so that they can have all eyes on them because they feel neglected, and that's not a good feeling, but being pregnant won't fix the problem's.

Now here is a reason besides the TV shows that I think these teenagers are trying to get pregnant.
  • They either think they are or they are feeling lonely, so they think a baby will give them someone who will love them.
Yes, I do think that is a reason. But hey, you have a family, friends, and a guy (or, as on the Maury show, 15 guys) who are willing to have sex with you and GET you pregnant. Even if the guy wants "no strings attached" that's still a person who care's enough, and your family and friend's love you. But if that's not good enough for you, fine. But don't go complaining when that baby is screaming and kicking and pooping and eating non stop.

Now, as a conclusion:
I DO NOT THINK THAT "TEEN MOM", "SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER", OR "16 AND PREGNANT" ARE THE ROOT PROBLEMS. IT IS NOT THE TV SHOWS THAT ARE DOING THIS ON PURPOSE. THEY ARE MAKING A TV SHOW FOR OTHERS TOO ENJOY AND AFTER EVERY EPISODE OR SO, THEY ARE SAYING "DO NOT GET PREGNANT".

So, that is my opinion.

Any comments?

About this blog.

Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Jade Elyse G. G. is the initial for my last name, but since my just my first and last name are boring, Jade Elyse G. is what I prefer to be called.

Every teen has an opinion, and me, being raised by a hard headed mother and being a Scorpio, I believe every teen should get their a voice out there, so don't think of this blog has an annoying teen girl trying to get teens to fight with other teens over little nothings. This blog brings real teen things from a real teen into a real blog which teens can use to, belive it or not, make a difference.

On this blog, I won't just be talking about controversy issues. Every once in a while, I will post a mission for some of you who accept the "challenge". Every month, it will be different, from helping girls in poverty to standing up for gay, bisexual, lesbian, transgender, etc,. people.

Inspiration
One day, my email pen pal send me a e mail message. Would you like to see our conversation??? I am in regular font, my friend is in italics.

(We started talking about somehting else when she changed the subject)

Man, this is a cruel world i must say.

Tell me about it...
Selfish people eh

More like the blind.
Not like sight blind, but the people who don't know what they really have or how lucky they are.

Yeah! That’s exactly what it is.

I mean, I feel like we all are blind, and everyone wants a little bit more then they have, but sometimes it's ridiculous. I mean, I'm guilty of it. I wish we had a bigger house and that we had more money. But to some people, we would be considered rich, and middle class is always better then lower class, but some people are just too miserable. At least I appreciate all the things my parent's and friend's and my brother do for me, right? If you get what I'm saying.
Yeah. Your exactly right. Appreciate the things you got. Because without them im sure you'd be lost.

Exactly. We all want better for everyone including your self, but when you only care about you, that's pretty much the limit.

Yep, and until the right people realize this, were screwed! You should right a story about it and blog it! Your a good writer remember

(Now, I would like to tell you guys I am not a newbie to writting, which is why she sent this message. I am a fanfiction writer and I have written more then one blog, and Keith know's very well...)

Hahah I write about fan fiction not controversy issues.
NO! WAIT! That's a good idea! I could start a controversy blog for teens!!!
You are a genius, you know that?!

I hear that alotWinking smile Thanks. Lol...And yeah! It would be awesome, ill join in.

When I told Keith about it, they were excited and asked for a link. This is my blog for teens to put their voice out there and make a difference.

One things that people like Keith and (OMG BELIEVE IT OR NOT) my mom do that I LOVE is that they get you thinking.

Everyday, Keith and I are pushing ourselves and eachother and we help each other realize how lucky we are and we even inspire eachothers next steps into something, whether or not we realize it, and you should always have friends like that, even if you only talk to them online.

And finally, my mom. One day, my mom sat me down and told me that if I worked really hard everyday, I could do whatever I wanted. She told me if I wanted to be a actress, which is a BIG passion of mine, I could. If I wanted to be a artist, another passion of mine, I could. If I wanted to go to college at 16, I could.

So these are the people who help me realize how lucky I am, how smart I am, and how grateful I SHOULD be.

These are the people that CAN change the world, and these are the people that I know will.
